Visions Nordiques - French Nordic Film Days announces full programme with acclaimed films from Baltasar Kormákur, Dag Johan Haugerud and Juho Kuosmanen!
The five day event in Paris, screening at the cinema Grand Action, opens with Baltasar Kormákur’s Touch and includes French premieres of Dag Johan Haugerud’s Venice competition title Love, Juho Kuosmanen’s The Silent Trilogy, a retrospective series of modern classics including Lars von Trier’s Breaking the Waves, Aki Kaurismäki’s Le Havre and Tarik Saleh’s The Nile Hilton Incident.
VISIONS NORDIQUES - French Nordic Film Days in Paris has completed its screening programme with French previews of 12 new features from a selection of the Nordic countries’ most acclaimed contemporary directors, 5 modern classics, an on-stage conversation with the currently Berlinale bound Dag Johan Haugerud (Love), post screening Q&A’s with the likes of among others Tarik Saleh (Boy from Heaven) and Juho Kuosmanen (Compartment No. 6).
A few of the hightlights include Baltasar Kormákur’s Touch (French distribution: Condor), Juho Kuosmanen’s new silent feature The Silent Trilogy (distributor: Le Pacte), Simon Klose’s Tribeca Best Documentary winner Hacking Hate, Dag Johan Haugerud’s critically acclaimed Venice competition selection Love (distributor: Pyramide), Pirjo Honkasalo’s Orenda starring Alma Pöysti (Tove, Fallen Leaves), debut director Ernst De Geer’s Karlovy Vary winner Hypnosis (distributor: Survivance) starring Herbert Nordrum (The Worst Person in the World) and Lilja Ingolfsdottir’s Lovable (distribution: Jour2Fête).
Guests introducing and participating in audience Q&A’s include directors Dag Johan Haugerud, Tarik Saleh, Juho Kuosmanen, actor Palmi Kormákur (Touch), producer Elin Kamlert (Hacking Hate) among others.
Visions Nordiques - French Nordic Film Days will also present a selection of modern classics in the screening programme, including Joachim Trier’s Reprise, Aki Kaurismäki’s Le Havre, Lars von Trier’s Breaking the Waves and in celebration of Swedish director Mai Zetterling’s 100th birthday her classic Loving Couples will be screened.
Through a partnership between The Five Nordics, CNC and Institut suédois, the March 5-7 industry programme running alongside the Nordic Film Days aims at developing the links between the French and Nordic film industries and institutions and at encouraging all forms of cooperation. It will include panel discussions and case studies on topics such as distribution, international sales, sustainability and talent development as well as a French/Nordic co-production workshop allowing a dozen of Nordic producers to meet French professionals. The event will take place at CNC and at Institut suédois.
